Portraits Of Two Lives
I see a man who was lonely and blue,
But that’s not me anymore.
I see a heart that was torn in two.
But that’s not me anymore.
I see a girl, lost and afraid,
But that’s not you anymore.
I see a heart that was tattered and frayed,
But that’s not you anymore.
I see a cross standing on a hill;
In the back of my mind, I can see it still:
There a battered Man hung in agony –
While He was dying, He reached for you and me.
I see a tomb that is empty now;
The body is not there – it’s gone, but how?
I see a Man with a wound in His side;
When I saw His pierced hands and feet, I cried.
I see two lives, empty and scarred;
But that’s not us anymore –
We’ve seen Jesus Christ, our Lord;
He has brightened these two portraits forevermore.

John 3:3-7 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
