The Loss Of A Best Friend
We fall apart – it seems as such
other times we run,
Some love the darkened dream too much
to ever face the Son.
I know, to you, I’ve really changed
practically overnight;
In your view, my life’s been rearranged,
ordered by the Light.
I miss the friendship that we shared,
the many times our souls we’ve bared.
But now, from me, without a trace,
you’ve fled so very far;
I search desperately for your face
in every passing car.
How could four years of our lives
just crumble down to dust?
Now I face my darkest fears
in someone that I trust.
No matter how hurt
or mistreated I have been,
I’ve stuck with you, my friend,
through thick or thin.
There’s a new reason to live,
a new life I have found;
Knowing my heart, you’re nowhere,
though I’ve searched around.
In my mind, and in my prayers,
I’ll always wish that you were there.
Inside my memory, you’ll always be;
There’s hope in Jesus – I hope you’ll see.

(Dedicated to my best friend that I lost when I found the Best of Friends.
May you someday come to know my Saviour too!)
A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly:
and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
